Scholarships
About a quarter of a century ago when IAUA was established, the members felt that aside from fostering camaraderie through an annual gathering at a dinner, it was important for us to extend help to our motherland by promoting academic exchanges and philanthropic ventures. The Chakrobotty fellowship was therefore started in the memory of Dr. Hitendra Chakrobortty, our deceased founding president of the IAUA.
The idea behind the fellowship was to select and invite one or two young academic urologists from India and offer a traveling scholarship to enable them to come to U.S. for several months to observe and learn modern urologic advancements in American institutions. The fellows would then implement and teach the acquired experience on return to their motherland.
